his name is ARIF..meaning that my class has two arif..

ermm..yesterday we learnt about how to make diagnosis

by asking patient or their family based on their complaints

toward their illness..

ermm..for examples..

+ has anyone in your family had a similar problem..?

+ when did the problem begin..?

+ does she allergic to any food..?

+ are she having any other pans or problems..?

+ how's the rest of family..?

actually there are stages of diagnosis that we could make..

such as..

+ it can't be..

+ it is unlikely to be

+ it could/might/may be

+ it's likely to be

+ it must be

we also learnt a lot of new symptoms and their signs..

such as..

~ asthma

~ cystic fibrosis

~ bronchiolitis

~ aspiration of foreign body

we also learnt how to tell or communicate

with patient by using word or expression

that sound less threatening for the patient..

it is because ..

to make sure that the patient will calm

and relax to hear the "scared term"..

just imagine..

what would happen to you..

when your doctor say like this..

" WE'LL HAVE TO PERFORM SURGERY TO CUT OUT THE TUMOR FROM YOUR BRAIN"..

hrmm...you'll feel annoy right..??

or may be..you'll run away from the hospital..

or may be..

you will play "hide-and-seek" with the doctor..

so it is important for the doctors to know..

or use sentences or word that less threaten their patient..

such as..

"YOU'LL NEED A SMALL OPERATION TO REMOVE THE SWELLING"..

ermm..it's better right..??..

at least ..

your patient will not faint directly

when you say like this..

haha..

besides that..

there are also a lot of examples..

- remove th growth

- put in a tube

- to move your bowels

- to go to bathroom

- blood loss from your intestines

- shot

- take a look at

ermm..it is better to say..

"there are blood loss from your intestines"

rather than

"there are bleeding in your abdomen"

or your patient will be like this..

so that they will understand and not so shock hearing to that..

last but not least..

we also learnt about MENINGITIS..

just before the class began..

i and izzati just talked and discussed about this disease..

it is because..

Avicenna or Ibnu Sina also

gave his own explanation regarding to this disease..

actually there are 5 types of bacteria that

are responsible for meningitis..

they are..

- pneumococcus

- meningococcus

- haemophilus

- escherichia coli

- listeria monocytogens

and it is important to give STEROIDS

early in the treatment of meningitis..

it is because they are present in the tissues

when the initial inflammatory burst occurs..

and it also helps by reducing the body's inflammatory reaction to

breakdown products that are produced

when the antibiotics kill the bacteria..

as a doctor..we need to know how can

my class on last monday..

we had an interesting class..

ermm..we learnt about REFINED SUGAR...

i want to tell you something about this..

actually before insulin was discovered to treat the diabetes mellitus..

it was possible to treat diabetes by controlling the diet..

peoples were thought that refined sugar just can

only increase more the blood glucose level ..

but..however..ADA published that refined sugar is not likely that..

because sugar is a form of carbohydrates..

and all carbohydrates contain approximately same amount of energy..

after that we did a role-play..

huhu..and then...

guess what happen..??

haha..two of us were chosen to do this role-play..

huhu..they were..

HAWA and AWANG..

ooww yeahh...!!

haha..

so cute both of them..

the LOWER the A1C number, the HIGHER the chances to slow or prevent the develepmont of serious eye, kidney and nerve disease....

we also learnt about the telephone conversation

how to make a request when we are such in needed and hurry

or we are in emergency case...

ermm...what can i say is..

a lot of patience are important to be a doctor..

...EPILEPSY...

ermm..

maybe MALAY called it as SAWAN..

in Malay..there are a lot of types of epilepsy..

such as..

SAWAN BABI,SAWAN TARIK

SAWAN TANGIS(i'm not so sure with sawan tangis..its just like in AHMAD ALBAB..huhu)

actually..EPILEPSY is not a type of mental illness or retardation

it is a common condition that causes repeated seizures....

seizures are caused by ...

bursts of electrical activity in the brain that are not normal

it also may cause problems

with muscle control, movement, speech, vision, or awareness..

What are the causes..??

+ head injury

+ brain tumor

+ brain infection

+ stroke

but in our traditional life..

they also related that

epilepsy is being caused by the "ghost"..

ermmm..maybe..

what are the symptoms..??

+ repeated seizures that happen without warning..
+ lose control of muscles...

+ you may fall down, and your body may twitch or jerk...

+ may stare off into space...

+ faint (lose consciousness)...

Diagnosing epilepsy can be hard...

If you think that you or your child has had a seizure...
your doctor will first try to figure out

if it was a seizure or something else with similar symptoms...

For example, a muscle tic or a migraine headache may look or feel like a kind of seizure.
Your doctor will ask lots of questions...(small talk..hehe)

He or she will want to know what happened to you

just before, during, and right after a seizure...

Your doctor will also examine you and do some tests, such as an EEG

and how to comfort patient when we tell them about their illness..

and the most important is..

the doctor needs to explain to the patient..

by NOT USING THE MEDICAL TERMS..

so it is little bit hard..

as the doctor needs to explain briefly

so that the patient will understand

and follow the doctors' prescription..

ermm..it is hard for the doctors..

because they often and usually use the medical terms in their life of work..

huhu..but that is the reality ..

it is because..

when we face the real world of medical..

we meet different peoples from different types..

and not all of them are familiar with the term..

so the doctors should understand this situation..

so a brief explanation will help the patient a lot..

besides..it is to make sure that..
